Transferring an already registered domain name involves changing the domain registrar that provides the domain name registration service, so after the transfer, you will have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS resource record modifications through the new company. The transfer process itself is standard with most generic and country-code Top-Level Domain extensions. Some country-code extensions are more specific and involve different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain name entails a few basic procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain. The domain lock is a safety option, which is being embraced by more and more domain registry operators. It’s a standard feature supported by all generic top-level domain names. If a domain name is locked, it won’t be possible to start a transfer procedure, so nobody can even attempt to register your domain. The lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain is registered and all new domains that support this feature are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with each and every shared hosting package that we offer, will grant you total control over your domain names. You will see all domains registered through our company neatly listed in alphabetical order in a separate Control Panel section. Those whose extensions support the registrar lock option will have a tiny padlock icon on their right. By clicking on the icon, you can find out if the specific domain is locked or unlocked and you can modify the present status by clicking again – the process is as straightforward as that. You will not have to wait for the update to propagate or for our company to do anything, as the status change takes effect immediately, even if you see something else on WHOIS lookup websites. After all, it takes time for such sites to ‘refresh’ the info that they display.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

Locking or unlocking any domain name registered through us is truly easy and can be achieved through the Hepsia Control Panel – the one via which you administer your semi-dedicated server. You will find all your domain names in the Domain Manager section and the ones whose extensions support the registrar lock option will have a padlock-like icon on their right. You can unlock any domain name by clicking on its icon and since the update will take effect right away, you will be able to proceed with the domain transfer without the need to wait for the lock status to be changed on WHOIS websites. If you reconsider your decision and decide not to transfer the domain away from us, locking it again will be just as easy and will not take more than a few mouse clicks in your Control Panel.
